Prisco is notoriously fickle when it comes to the top NFL quarterbacks, so when the 2024 CBS Sports 100 list was unveiled, it was a shock when the native Pennsylvanian made the rise to #11 on the rankings.

This is the biggest jump of any player on the list, so why did he make the cut? And how did he get there?

The biggest jump in the Top 100 rankings is expected from Wyoming’s Josh Allen, who was ranked 19th last year and is now ranked in the top 3 at #3.

The reason that he made the biggest jump is because of a four-interception performance against TCU in the Cotton Bowl that saw him lose his starting job. Expect Allen to see some playing time early in the season as he gets his feet wet in the NFL. If things go well for him, look for him to make an even bigger jump in the rankings next year.

CBS Sports editor Pete Prisco releases his annual list of the NFL’s top 100 players for the upcoming season. Since this list is compiled every year, it is easy to see which players have been moved up or down based on their excellent or poor performance in the previous year.

Not surprisingly, the top ten is dominated by quarterbacks. This is the most important position on the NFL field, and the best players at this position are the face of the league. In the 2024 version, the No. 1 QB and the player at large remain the same, while several pass rushers below him swap places. One signaler represents the biggest change on the entire list, moving from outside the top 100 in 2024 to 10th in 2024: Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen.

Qbs Dominate Top 100 NFL Players In 2024

Quarterbacks make up 50 percent of the top 10 players in the CBS Sports Top 100 Players of 2024, compiled by Pete Prisco. As for the 2024 roster, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is the best player on the list. Two other players remained in the top 10 of last year’s list, but in different places. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers moved up from 10th to third place after being the best player of the 2024 season.

Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks went the other way, from third in 2024 to eighth in 2024. Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady is back in the top 10 after a one-year absence. He went from 19th last season to 4th next season. Although Prisco rated Brady lower last season, his 2024 QB rating was prescient: By his standards, his numbers were modest last season with the Patriots. But he has had little help from his panel, which will change in Tampa.

His numbers should rise significantly this season. Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has fallen off the roster between 2024 and 2024. Louisville was 7th in its first year following the NFL MVP season, and is 29th on the latest list.

While Brady moved up 15 spots and Jackson moved down 22, no one made a bigger jump, on the field or on Prisco’s roster, last year than Allen. The No. 7 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has gone from a young prospect to an NFL superstar in 2024. Allen had his first Pro Bowl season and led Buffalo to its first AFC East berth since 1995 and its first AFC Championship Game appearance since 1993.

Allen carried the Bills to that height with a passing performance not seen since Jim Kelly at Orchard Park. Wyoming totaled 4,544 yards with a 69.2 percent completion rate, 37 touchdowns and just 10 rebounds. Prisco is talking about Allen in his 2024 roster: In his third season, he became a candidate for the best player award. His ability to move and play makes him a tough quarterback to defend. The biggest increase, however, occurred in the pocket. As the 2024 season approaches, Bills fans can’t help but be excited about their young MVP candidate and the recognition he’s receiving.

Allen has the third-most chance of winning the 2024 NFL MVP award

Whether you grew up on a farm, in a barn or in a mansion, we all love money, and Josh Allen wants it…..

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Allen (+1300) has the third-best chance of winning the 2024 NFL MVP award. The QB, who finished second in the MVP voting last season behind eventual winner Rogers, is currently only behind Green Bay signal-caller (+900) and Mahomes (+500).

All the other players in the top 10 MVP odds are also QBs. Brady, Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott (+1500) are tied for fourth, Jackson (+1700) is tied for seventh, Wilson and Justin Herbert (+2000) are tied for eighth and Kyler Murray (+2300) rounds out the top 10. If you want to bet on Allen or any other player on the future MVP list, backing the QB is the only play that really makes sense. With this position, we have eight of the last consecutive MVPs and 13 of the last 15. In the last 15 years, only sophomores Adrian Peterson (2012) and LaDainian Tomlinson (2006) have broken that dominance.

All statistics are from Pro Football Reference APPROPRIATE: Josh Allen and the Bills finally know how the Patriots have felt for two decades
